Lily and Ben wipe their mouths after breakfast, the sun just peeking through the kitchen window.
“Perfect for a morning bike ride. What if we just take our bikes and … go?” Lily suggests. Ben raises an eyebrow, grinning. “Why not!”
Ten minutes later, they’re pedaling through quiet streets, the morning air crisp and fresh. They laugh as a flock of birds takes off right in front of them and pause to watch a curious cat chasing a butterfly. Every turn feels like a tiny adventure, every street a new story.
Then Lily’s phone buzzes. It’s their son Jules. “Mom? Where are you? No breakfast today?” Lily smiles. In their spontaneous ride, they completely lost track of time. Back home, Ella, Jules, and Jack are wandering the kitchen, surprised to find no parents—and no breakfast.
Lily laughs into the phone. “Are you awake already?” she teases, a little breathless.
Then a calm, confident voice chimes in: “Don’t worry, Mom. I got this.” It’s Jack, the youngest, always the problem-solver. Within minutes, the toaster is buzzing, the table is set, and bacon and scrambled eggs are sizzling on the stove.
When Lily and Ben roll home, they find their kids eating, chatting, and laughing. Jack, proudly holding the pan, grins. “See? I can handle this!”
Everyone bursts out laughing. Lily ruffles Jack’s hair. “Guess we don’t need to worry, do we?”
Ben chuckles. “Any chance there’s bacon left for us?”
Sometimes a spontaneous ride creates a little chaos—but with Jack around, mornings are always saved.
